Join us at 4:00 PM EASTERN (1:00 PM PACIFIC) on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 for a convo with Dr. Saundra McGuire.
Many students struggle in college not from lack of ability, but because they have not been taught the critical thinking skills required for success. These skills can be increased rapidly and substantially by teaching students metacognitive learning strategies. This interactive webinar will present effective learning strategies based on cognitive science research. Participants will engage in activities to demonstrate strategies that transform students’ attitudes about the meaning of learning, leading to increased student success, confidence, and motivation.
This session will present definitions of metacognition and metacognitive equity and provide reasons for the metacognitive equity gap seen on many college campuses. Participants will be provided with examples demonstrating the rapid and dramatic impact of effective strategies on student performance. Additionally, the importance of mindset about intelligence in motivating students will be discussed.
