Sales Specialist
At Codon Learning, we help instructors and students apply novel technologies to the most impactful, evidence-based teaching and learning practices to improve equity and efficacy for all students.
As a Sales Specialist, you will play a crucial role in driving sales within biology departments. We are looking for someone with a passion for improving equity and academic outcomes for all students through the application of evidence-based teaching practices. Through collaboration with our sales director, CEO, and our team of biology educators, content developers, and software engineers you will develop and implement strategic sales plans and committee strategies for a large territory.
Major Responsibilities
Drive significant growth for Codon Learning products by prioritizing top opportunities, developing committee strategies, and facilitating presentations for key decision-makers.
Represent a mission-driven organization through conversations with faculty about biology education research, evidence-based teaching, and how our technology can improve teaching and learning.
Collaborate with the Codon Learning team to implement effective sales strategies for renewals, new business, and growth opportunities.
Maintain and update sales data and activities using Salesforce.com and provide suggestions for improvements.
Keep the team informed of competitive information and market trends in digital resources for intro biology courses.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience in technology sales with a proven track record of achieving sales targets, or 3+ years in education/academia with some sales or other professional experience.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the sales director, CEO, and product development and customer support teams.
Proven ability to win complex sales opportunities with multiple stakeholders.
Excellent presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience in higher education sales and/or marketing, particularly in STEM disciplines.
Salary Range
$80,000 - $90,000/year base with bonus.

Physical Requirements
Ability to maintain close concentration for extended periods.
Ability to multi-task and concentrate in busy environments.
Ability to walk up to 2 miles a day on campus and sit/stand for long periods at conventions.
Willingness to travel frequently, including driving for several hours and frequent flights for overnight trips.
Valid driver’s license travel within territory.
Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week during peak selling seasons.

Sales and Marketing Internship
Codon interns will help with sales outreach and marketing Codon’s courseware. They will have the opportunity to learn what it’s like to work in an early stage education technology startup.
Responsibilities (an abbreviated short list):
Researching sales leads and populating our database.
Sending emails to potential customers.
Attending customer demos.
Following up with customers as needed.
Attending daily stand-up meetings.
Helping to create marketing and sales collateral.
Compensation:
$20 an hour.
